Welcome to Duchy’s Dirty Weekends. A first of its kind metal detecting rally roadshow experience in Cornwall. Built by Duchy Metal Detectors for the detecting community, our rally events combine exciting permissions, proper weekend camping and amazing metal detecting in some truly special locations. Many of our sites offer the kind of setting detectorists dream of, with open countryside, coastal backdrops and even stunning sea views while detecting and camping. Whether you are new to the hobby or a seasoned detectorist, Duchy’s Dirty Weekends is about fresh land, friendly events and unforgettable weekends in the field detecting together (no funny business).
The Roadshow Concept
Instead of one single weekend event, Duchy’s Dirty Weekends is designed to move from location to location — a proper metal detecting roadshow across Cornwall, with weekend detecting stops and mid-week camp breaks in between.
Detectorists arrive on the Thursday, camp up on the event site, enjoy a full weekend of detecting, then pack down on the Sunday evening or Monday morning before the roadshow moves on to the next area.
Those joining us for multiple weekends can arrange their own mid-week campsite nearby. While we won’t be booking accommodation directly, we’ll do our best to point people towards suitable campsites along the route. September is usually a quieter time for Cornwall campsites, so there should be plenty of options available.
You can book a single weekend or follow more of the roadshow adventure across Cornwall, picking the dates and locations that suit you best.
Exact locations are to be announced nearer the time, but the aim is simple: fresh land, different locations, great company, proper weekend atmosphere, and a metal detecting roadshow experience like nothing Cornwall has seen before
The Dirty Weekend Experience
Each stop of the Duchy’s Dirty Weekends Roadshow will have its own flavour, with different locations, landowners, land masses and facilities. Every event is built around the same idea: great detecting, good company and a relaxed weekend atmosphere.
Across selected events, expect brand areas, traders, dealers and testing spaces from names like Minelab, Garrett, XP Metal Detectors, Rutus and Nokta, giving you the chance to browse machines and detecting gear, try the latest kit, ask questions and have a swing before you buy.
Plenty of Facilities on site including toilets, food vendors for breakfast and evening meals, and at many stops, a large event tent with a bar, live music or light entertainment. Nothing too loud, too late or too hectic just good fun for detectorists who like a laugh but still enjoy their sleep.
Depending on the site, some events may also include water supplies, caravan top-ups, electrical hook-up or a fuller campsite style setup with showers and limited ticket numbers.
To keep the weekend buzzing, selected events may also feature token hunts, raffles and cracking prize giveaways. All adding to the fun alongside the main detecting.

The detecting doesn't stop when the fields do. Get stuck into our unique metal detecting rally games, Finders-KEY-Pers™ and Let's GLOW Hunting™, with detectors & prizes up for grabs, bragging rights on the line and plenty of laughs along the way. From daytime challenges to after-dark action, this is where the weekends turns up a notch and brings something to look forward to!
Lets GLOW Hunting™
When the sun goes down, the detectors glow up.
GLOW-Detect is our Saturday night dark-field token hunt — a glowing, one-hour detecting challenge like nothing we’ve seen before at a metal detecting rally or event.
For £10 entry, you’ll get glow sticks to light up yourself, your detector, or both. Once darkness falls, everyone lines up around the field, the countdown begins, and the hunt is on.
There will be 200 tokens scattered across the field and you’ll have one hour to find as many as possible. Most tokens wins a metal detector, with 9 runner-up prizes also up for grabs.

Finders-KEY-pers™
300 keys. One chest. One winning key.
Finders-KEY-pers is a fast-paced metal detecting game where 300 keys are scattered across one big field, but only one will open the prize chest. Everyone lines up, the countdown starts, and then it is a race to find a key, get to the chest and see if luck is on your side.
One key per attempt. One locked chest. One winner walking away with a metal detector.
Expect a bit of chaos, a lot of laughs and a proper crowd moment. Entry is £10 per person, with the exact start time confirmed during the weekend. For info and rules visit our events games page.
